One of the most beautiful places in the world faces some tough social and environmental challenges, so a little help goes a long way. From simple acts of helpful kindness to critical improvements in sustainable development, there are many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the people of Jiquilillo.

Guests of Monty's Beach Lodge are invited to participate in local efforts for a vacation that refreshes both the body and the soul. Simply by staying at Monty's a portion of your accommodation rate will be directed toward ongoing community projects!

How Social Tourism works:

We work in concert with local charities and development groups to provide opportunities for our guests. There are a variety of activities based on your interests that are regularly scheduled, and offer Monty's Beach Lodge guests a unique way to connect with the local community. Whether you are a professional with specific skills to offer such as teaching, medical, dental, trades or someone willing to offer hands and heart, we have options available to you. We can prearrange volunteer activities or it can be scheduled when you arrive.

Even on vacation, a little hard work can go a long way. We can arrange for you to help with more involved efforts, such as local construction projects or assembling water filter systems. Contact us and we'll let you know what's available.

Getting involved:

How much you do is entirely up to you. Jiquilillo is a beautiful spot and you are welcome to just relax and soak up the beach life. After all, it is a vacation. Many of our guests also choose to help in some way. You can let us know what you'd like to do when you make your reservation and we will make the arrangements. Opportunities are always evolving and can be adjusted during your stay. Staff at the Beach Lodge can always find community opportunities for you while you're here.

It was born out of the desire to support long term sustainable, community led projects taking place in Jiquillio and the surrounding communities. Ensuring projects have on going funding and support is essential to creating lasting improvement in people lives.
